After a year, you can renew via an in-app purchase (priced the same as the app). ######################################## COVERAGE Weather reports are available for nearly anywhere in the world. If in doubt, go to and try your location to see if you like the report. Radar is currently North America only, but I expect to support more soon. The hour forecast is currently limited to US, UK, Ireland. DAILY COMPARISON When you're getting dressed, what do you want to know? "How does today compare with yesterday?" Weather Nerd includes a nice daily comparison: "Today is 9° cooler than yesterday. No rain." This makes it easy to grab the right coat. MINUTE-TO-MINUTE FORECAST Weather Nerd also gives you minute-by-minute rain predictions for your exact GPS location. Powered Dark Sky's cutting edge "hyperlocal precipitation forecasting system", these reports show you a nice graph of the rain intensity for the next hour based on your exact location. For example, you might see: "Light rain starting in 10 minutes, stopping 15 minutes later." DAILY FORECAST The daily forecast screen shows you a graph of the temperature, rain, and wind for today. Touch anywhere on the graph to view the forecast for a specific hour. At the bottom of the screen you'll see the current temperature and other details like the high, low, chance of precipitation, wind speed, direction, moon phase, sunset, sunrise, humidity, etc. WEEKLY FORECAST The weekly forecast shows you a quick graph of the projected highs and lows for the next week, along with the chance of rain. Touch any day to view the full forecast for that day. BEYOND 7 DAYS Need to see the forecast for two weeks or two months out? No problem. Weather Nerd's calendar lets you view the forecast for any date within the next year. NERD OUT For the real weather nerds, the "Nerd Out" feature will list out ALL of the weather information. NERD ALERTS Weather Nerd lets you setup a daily weather forecast alert (in 15 minute intervals). You can turn the alert on/off for certain days of the week. If you set your alert to 6pm or later, then the forecast will be for "tomorrow's" weather. ABOUT THE WEATHER REPORTS Most of the data for this app is powered by the unbelievable team at They combine data from up to 18 different sources and use statistical analysis to create the most accurate forecast possible. NERD WIDGETS Some of you nerds like to use iPhone and iPad widgets. No problem. Weather Nerd comes packaged with 3 different widgets for your viewing pleasure including graphs for the "Next Hour", "Daily Overview", and "Upcoming Week". Why a subscription? The average nerd checks weather 4-5 times a day. Over a year, that alone cost nearly 1 USD to our providers. That's not counting additional data used for radar tiles, alerts, widgets, watch, multiple devices, servers, etc. It would be completely unsustainable to charge a one time fee for a lifetime of data.

I don't know why I have so many weather apps, but after using them all quite a bit, here is my assessment. Yahoo weather is my favorite casual weather app. Flick through the cities and get a general feel. Dark Skies is elegant. Very nice to look at. But Weather Nerd is the best if you actually want to know how the weather is going to be. It's an informer. Most comprehensive and valuable data in an awesome presentation. You can completely geek out over the weather in this tool. Well done. — Feb 2018 update: I’ve obviously appreciated and used the app, have been a supporter online and with friends as well as financially. I must admit I am disappointed there hasn’t been an update for iPhone X (no update of any kind for a while). Hopefully one is coming soon.

This is generally a great weather app. I love the graph showing temperature, wind, and precipitation for the day. It’s the best visualization of the day’s weather that I’ve seen. That said, the app hasn’t been updated in a while and doesn’t support the iPhone X screen size. An update that supported the latest devices would get this app to 5 stars.
  • No iPhone X support

    By bgrieser
Will not be paying anymore for an app if it doesn’t support the X.
  • Beware, this is subscription ware

Now this is useless without a subscription, so I'm changing my previous 4 star rating to 1 star.

Update: 1/19/17. Our location received over 2 inches of snow, yet the app shows only a little over 1/10th of an inch in historical data. Can’t be right. Seems consistently wrong in other areas as well. Noticed the last update to the app was a year ago. Has the developer abandoned the app? It really was a good concept. I will not renew. Update: 1/29/16. I enjoy using this app. Mostly, I use it for historical data. Won a few bets with my wife about dates it snowed last year. Now comfortable with the UI. Developer quick to respond to my questions. Well done and managed app. Upped my rating from 3-5 stars.

This was my favorite weather app, but when the subscription expired and they hadn’t release an update in a year, I decided to go elsewhere. If this gets updated and includes better support for the iPhone X, I’ll reconsider a subscription!
  • Abandoned.

I just paid to renew my subscription on not just one but two devices. Why? Because the product is still darn good and I want to support indie developers. I naively assumed someone who designed his product with annual recurring revenue will certainly find the time to make simple updates to support Apple's flagship iPhone X. Much to my disappointment, the app has been dormant for more than a year.

I am updating my review to 3 stars because the app seems outdated now. It looks like crap on my iPhone X. I will not be paying again till they upgrade.
  • Best UI Ever, of any app

The best of the best, do not change anything. Unbelievably accurate and informative.
